As a marketer, I’m always looking for ways to stay ahead of the curve and stay relevant in an industry that is constantly evolving. Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about the shifts I need to make in my own marketing strategy in order to stay competitive and continue to grow my business.

One of the biggest changes I’m implementing is a shift in my offers. This means that I need to make sure my content pillars and style are also aligning with my current offerings. For example, if I’m no longer primarily focusing on video marketing and launching, my content pillars need to shift to align with my new focus on multi-channel marketing strategies and building up a membership component in my business.

Establishing Your Business as an Authority with Strong Content Pillars

Content pillars are the main themes or topics that your business focuses on in its content marketing efforts. They serve as the foundation for your content strategy and help to establish your business as an authority in your industry.

Here are some tips for coming up with content pillars:

Identify your target audience: Your content pillars should be relevant to your target audience and address their needs and interests.

Define your brand’s mission and values: Your content pillars should align with your brand’s mission and values and reflect what your business stands for.

Consider your business’s offerings: Your content pillars should align with the products or services that your business offers.

Research industry trends: Keep an eye on industry trends and consider incorporating them into your content pillars to stay relevant and up-to-date.

Be specific: Your content pillars should be specific and focused, rather than too broad or general.

Some examples of content pillars could be:

  • Sustainability in fashion
  • Parenting tips for busy moms
  • Health and wellness for seniors
  • Personal finance for millennials
  • DIY home improvement projects

By identifying your content pillars and consistently creating content around them, you can establish your business as an authority in your industry and better connect with your target audience.

Maximizing Your Marketing Reach with a Multi-Channel Strategy

Speaking of multi-channel marketing, this is another shift I’m making in my strategy. I’m starting to more frequently utilize a variety of marketing channels, such as email, social media, and direct mail, to reach and engage with my audience. This allows me to reach a wider audience and helps me to be more flexible in how I connect with potential clients.

Multi-channel marketing, also known as omni-channel marketing, refers to the practice of using a variety of marketing channels to reach and engage with customers. This can include traditional channels like print and television advertising, as well as digital channels like social media, email, and mobile apps.

One of the main benefits of multi-channel marketing is that it allows businesses to reach a wider audience and increase their visibility. By using multiple channels, businesses can reach customers through the platforms and channels that they are most active on, rather than relying on a single channel.

Multi-channel marketing is also important because it allows businesses to deliver a more cohesive and seamless customer experience. By using multiple channels, businesses can create a more comprehensive marketing strategy that addresses customers’ needs and preferences at every touchpoint. This can help to build trust and loyalty with customers and improve overall brand awareness.

In 2023, it will be more important than ever for business owners to diversify their marketing efforts. With the increasing number of marketing channels available, it’s essential to have a well-rounded marketing strategy that utilizes a variety of channels to reach and engage with customers.

By diversifying their marketing efforts, businesses can ensure that they are reaching their target audience in the most effective way possible and positioning themselves for success in an increasingly competitive marketplace. This is why I created Revolutionary Society, to teach service providers and coaches how to effectively market on multiple marketing channels without burning out.

Staying Ahead of the Game: Predicted Trends in Online Content Consumption for 2023

In addition to these changes, I’m also making sure to stay up-to-date on how people are consuming content and what social media platforms prefer in terms of content style. For example, if Instagram is pushing shorter format content like reels, I need to make sure that my content strategy includes these types of formats in order to make the most of the platform.

It’s difficult to predict specific trends in content consumption for 2023, as the landscape is constantly evolving. However, some general trends that are likely to continue or become more prominent in the coming years include:

Increased use of video content: Video content is increasingly popular and effective for engaging audiences online. In the coming years, we may see an even greater emphasis on video as a primary form of content.

Continued growth of social media: Social media platforms will likely continue to be an important channel for content consumption. Businesses should be sure to have a strong presence on social media and create content that is tailored to each platform’s unique audience and algorithms.

Personalization and customization: As consumers become more savvy and selective in their content consumption, they will likely expect more personalized and customized content. Businesses should consider using data and analytics to create targeted, personalized content for their audience.

Increased importance of mobile: With more and more people accessing the internet from their smartphones, it will be increasingly important for businesses to create content that is mobile-friendly and optimized for smaller screens.

Rise of interactive content: Interactive content, such as polls, quizzes, and interactive infographics, can be a great way to engage and retain audiences. We may see an increase in the use of interactive content in the coming years.

I talked about marketing trends for 2023 before which is why it’s important to be aware of how content consumption should impact your marketing strategy for 2023.

Overall, it’s important to stay flexible and adaptable in marketing. If you’re in the process of making changes to your marketing strategy, it may be helpful to seek out advice and guidance from industry experts and peers. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been having some interesting conversations with other marketing experts about the shifts they’re making in their own businesses, and it’s been really helpful to get different perspectives and insights.

The marketing landscape is constantly changing, and it’s important to stay on top of the latest trends and shifts in order to remain competitive and grow your business. By making the necessary changes to your marketing strategy and staying up-to-date on industry trends, you can position yourself for success in the ever-evolving world of marketing.
